Commonwealth Spectrum Management Forum 2017

Internet of Things and Basic Broadband Access: Spectrum Implications

Date: 25 – 27 October 2017
Location: London, United Kingdom
Venue: 99 City Road Conference Centre

While industry experts are busy equipping all things with Internet connectivity to facilitate machine-to-machine (M2M) communications as well as man-machine interaction, there are many in the developing world for whom broadband access as a human right, is still a distant dream. The Forum will address these and other competing demands for spectrum.

Stakeholders need to engage closely with the international coordination mechanisms of the International Telecommunication Union through the World Radiocommunication Conferences, the next of which is due in 2019. This Forum aims to build the capacity of stakeholders in managing spectrum from planning and assigning to utilising and recovery as well as to help stakeholders prepare for the next World Radio Communication Conference.

Key Topics:

      • Preparations for WRC-19
      • The promise of 5G
      • Spectrum utilisation
      • Efficient spectrum
      • Policy options for spectrum efficiency
      • Spectrum sharing
      • Digital broadcasting switch over
