Commonwealth Digital Roadshow Opens in Vanuatu
The Prime Minister of Vanuatu officially opened the Commonwealth Digital Roadshow on 23 March 2026, reaffirming the government’s commitment to advancing the country’s digital transformation agenda. The opening ceremony brought together government leaders, international partners, and industry stakeholders to support dialogue on building an inclusive and digitally connected future.
Representatives from the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO), the Government of Vanuatu, and international partners highlighted the importance of collaboration, innovation, and policy leadership in driving sustainable digital development. CTO Secretary-General Bernadette Lewis noted that the Roadshow reflects the organisation’s longstanding commitment to bringing technology closer to communities across the Commonwealth.
Over five days, the Roadshow explored key priorities shaping Vanuatu’s digital future through discussions, workshops, and community engagement activities. Topics included connectivity expansion, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, internet governance, digital financial inclusion, ICT for small and medium-sized enterprises, and technology applications in health and education.
Participants also examined practical approaches to strengthening resilience through improved connectivity, satellite technologies, and early warning systems, while highlighting the importance of inclusive digital services that meet local needs.
The programme concluded with community outreach activities showcasing digital tools in action, including e-learning solutions and discussions on online safety and digital inclusion.
As discussions throughout the Roadshow reinforced, digital transformation must remain people-centred, inclusive, and responsive to national priorities. The initiative marks an important step in supporting Vanuatu’s journey toward a more resilient and future-ready digital ecosystem.
