CTO Elects SIDS Leaders, Welcomes Belize
CTO Council Meeting Marks New Vision, Stronger SIDS Representation and Welcomes Belize
The Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO) successfully hosted its 63rd Council Meeting on 4 July 2025 at the historic Marlborough House in London, United Kingdom.
This annual gathering brought together Council members from across the Commonwealth to review ongoing and upcoming programmes aimed at driving digital transformation and expanding meaningful connectivity for all member states.
A key highlight of this year’s meeting was the election of the new Executive Committee, which reflects the organisation’s commitment to balanced and inclusive representation. In a significant milestone for small island developing states (SIDS), Grenada, St Kitts and Nevis, and Samoa have been elected to the Executive Committee. Samoa will serve as Chairman, while St Kitts and Nevis will take up the role of 2nd Vice Chair — underscoring the CTO’s dedication to addressing the unique needs and opportunities of island nations within its digital agenda.
The Executive Committee’s geographic balance also remains strong, with four members from the African continent: Cameroon joins returning members Uganda, Mauritius (1st Vice Chair), and Mozambique (Immediate Past Chair).
Another key milestone at the meeting was the welcoming of Belize as the CTO’s newest Full Member Country. Belize’s accession marks another step forward in strengthening the CTO’s diverse membership and collective resolve to harness the power of ICT for sustainable development throughout the Commonwealth.
The CTO remains steadfast in its mission to foster inclusive digital growth, promote regional cooperation, and elevate the voices of all its members — large and small — on the global stage.
