South Asian Regional CIIP Workshop (Bangladesh)

Overview
20 participants attended the second South Asian Regional CIIP Workshop jointly hosted by the CTO and Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Board in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The participating countries included: Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
The workshop was divided into two parts: the first part presented the Critical Information Infrastructure Protection (CIIP) and the second part focused on the commonwealth perspective on Cyber-governance model and the commonwealth approach to developing a national Cybersecurity strategy.
Key Issues
- Outline the framework for managing the risk of Bangladesh’s cyberspace or critical information infrastructure.
- Building user confidence and security in the use of ICTs
- Highlighted the key cyber security challenges including cross boundary corporation, the lack of comprehensive and harmonized laws; and increasing mobile phone fraud.
