ICT Finance 2012

The Commonwealth Finance and Investment Forum, held at America Square in central London on 15th and 16th November 2012, bridged the divide between high finance and microfinance in ICTs. The event also facilitated dialogue between prospective investors, entrepreneurs and governments pioneering country-wide ICT infrastructure.

The two-day workshop and conference was organised with the support of e Worldwide Group and BroadGroup, and generated a rethink of how international development organisations and agencies can pursue ICT4D projects while underlining the importance of leveraging technologies and financial models to improve the lives of the poorest and the most vulnerable.

Highlights of the conference included presentations made by investment-seekers to a panel of financial advisors from Frontier Markets Fund Managers, Investec and Anthem Corporate Finance, which was headed by Radhika Dil, advisor at the Department for International Development (DfID). The projects seeking investment included Benin’s Digital District, the Gabonese Internet City, Dar Teknohama Incubator Park in Tanzania and Trinidad’s Caribbean IXP.
